He says-- "why must you draw
so many lines in the sand? The world
is gray."

But without variance of tone, value,
without black of ink and white of paper
And a thousand shades between
there is no Picture.

There is no sentence, either

There is no word written at all
without the black of ink
set against the white of paper.



This
I suppose
is the difference
between us--

he likes the look of gray

And I still cling to a Picture.
